Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Barkhor street - O/N Lhasa 3650m
The first day of sightseeing starts from Lhasa's cardinal landmark - Potala Palace.It was built in the 7th century by Tibetan king “Songtsen Gampo” and later renovated by 5th Dalai Lama in the 17th century. You can explore the grandest of this myriad chapels, its audience halls, the jeweled and Golden burial chortens(sputa Tombs) of past Dalai Lamas, and tremendous number of Buddhist frescoes, Thangkas, combinations of Mandela, figures of the Buddha.In the afternoon, we will visit the Jokhang Temple, the spiritual center of Tibetan Buddhism, attracts thousands and thousands of pilgrimage from all over Tibet and around the world,it was built by the great King Songten Gampo.
Drepung Monastery, Sera Monastery - O/N Lhasa 3650m
About 8km west of central Lhasa there is the Drepung Monastery, once world's largest Monastery with about 10,000 monks. The sightseeing begins with these white monastic buildings piled up on the hillside. At the plate roof of hillside, you can have very good views of the whole Lhasa city and the distant mountains.Drepung is one of Lhasa's two great Gelugpa monasteries. The other Gelugpa monastery is Sera which is 5km away from north of central Lhasa, Sera,Monastery is very famous for its 'Buddhism Scriptures Debating', evening around 3pm they starts debating and we can visit and take pictures.
Drive to Drakyepa for meditation
Drakyepa is located on the hill called Lhari Nyinpo, having 3920mtrs above sea level. It is founded during seventh century and the place is fabulous for thosewho loves meditation. In the history of Tibet it has important position for its unique architectural style, well preserved original designed. Once we reach there we will split to get a favorable place to meditate, we will meet at lunch time and have nice picnic and come back to Lhasa.
