Lhasa Shoten celebration – Drepong monastery and Norbu Lingka
Today we will participate in Shoton festival so we leave hotel early after breakfast and head to Drepong Monastery to see the Giant Buddha Thangka rolling down and get bless. There will be thousands of Tibetan paying homage to the Thangka.After lunch we will visit the NorbuLingka where the afternoon Shoton festival will be help with Tibetan Opera Dance. The Tibetan people will have picnic in the lawn and watch the opera for the rest of the day. .
Lhasa Sightseeing – Jokhang temple and Sera Monastery
Morning we will visit the Jokhang Temple, the spiritual center of Tibetan Buddhism, attracts thousands and thousands of pilgrimage from all over Tibet and around the world, it was built by the great King Songten Gampo.In the afternoon we visit one of biggest monasteries in Tibet, belongs to Gelugpa, Sera monastery which was built in the year of1419 by “Chamchen Chojie” a disciple of Tsongkapa. Sera monastery is very famous in ‘Buddhism Scriptures Debate, we might see them debating in the court yard.
Sightseeing – Potala palace
In the morning we will visit the land mark of Lhasa” Potala palace”, served as both administrative centre and religious centreinTibet. It was built in the 7th century by Tibetan king “Songtsen Gampo” and later renovated by 5th Dalai Lama in the 17th century. After lunch it is a free day where you can wonder around the market or rest in the hotel.
Lhasa – Shigatse (overnight in Shigatse hotel)
After breakfast we start the journey, head toward Shigatse which is the second largest city inTibe It’s also the home town of Banchen Lama. We will be visiting the famous Tashilumpo Monastery.
After breakfast we head toward Tingri and overnight in Tingri.
Tingri – Mount Everest
After breakfast we leave Tingri and head to Mount Everest, today we drive to Mt. Everest and overnight here. While passing through you will see Himalaya range including peaks over 8000, Makalu, Lhotse, Everest, Gyachung and Cho Oyu. The first sight of the mighty Everest simply leaves you speechless. The best moments to watch Mt. Everest is in the early morning and late evening (sun rise and sun set) when Everest is shining like a goddess in the sunglow.
Mount Everest to Shigatse (overnight in Shigatse hotel)
We will wake up early morning to catch the sun rise picture with Mount Everest and after breakfast we will head to Shigatse and spend the night there.
Shigatse to Namtso (overnight in Namtso hotel)
After breakfast we will drive to Namtso Lake, It is over 70km long and reaches a width of 30km. In clear weather the water is a stunning shade of turquoise and you will be surrounded by magnificent views of the nearby mountains. The wide open spaces, dotted with tents of local nomads, are breathtaking. We will do a short walk along the lake.
Namtso to Lhasa
Namtso is about 250km northwest from Lhasa, the second-largest saltwater lake in Tibet.
Depart from Lhasa by flight OR overland by railway
Chutang Town— Mount Everest
After breakfast we will drive to the North site of Mount Everest base camp and stop for lunch at Tashi Zong. After lunch we continue our journey to see the sun set at Mount Everest camp and spend the night at Base Camp Teahouse.
Mount Everest –Shigatse
Right after breakfast we say goodbye to Mount Everest and head to Shigatse, where we will have comfortable hotels with bathrooms, so everyone can have nice bath or shower and relax.
We leave right after breakfast head to Lhasa and the roads are straight with beautiful sceneries. On the way we will come across the pass at the Karola glacier which even in its reduced state was an impressive sight. Traveling on the side of Turquoise Lake Yumdrok Yumtso was probably one of the most beautiful refreshing trips. When we reach Lhasa we will rest for some time and then go out for dinner.
We have breakfast together and then according to the flight we will drop you to the airport and tour ends here.
